Used Office Drawer Units
Filing is a job that never seems to get done in an office. Even though we’ve moved a lot of functions onto the computer, there’s no substitute for a hard copy. Unfortunately, that means that we still have a lot of paper.
Filing cabinets haven’t changed a whole lot in design over the last few years. We’ve gotten better at making them less obtrusive and more practical, but they’re still much the same. Choosing the right filing system can make a huge difference to efficiency, so let’s look at some of the options out there.
Let’s start with the plain old cabinets. You get vertical and lateral file cabinets. The former is the more traditional style and features longer drawers and a narrower profile. You can fit more files back to back but can only use one column of files.
A lateral cabinet is a more recent tweak on the original design. This option features a much wider face and shorter drawers. You can’t fit in as many files back to back, but you can fit several columns of files.
The primary difference is simple. With a vertical model, you can file from the front to the back. With the lateral model, you can file from side to side.
If you need extra space, you can choose a filing system on rails. This system entails having cabinets on railings that are short distances apart. When you need to access one of the files at the back, you move the front cabinets over. In this simple way, you can fit a lot more filing into a smaller space. There are other space-saving options as well, but we won’t go into them now.
