Used Fire-Resistant File Cabinets & Storage
In business, we need to keep our documents safe. In some cases, that documentation is our own. In others, we’re safeguarding documents for clients. Either way, there’s no telling when you’ll need to access the hard copy of a document on file.
That being said, keeping the documents safe is essential. Your standard filing cabinet is usually lockable, so theft often is not a big issue. What about fire, though? Paper, especially older paper will go up like … well, paper, if a blaze starts.
Fortunately, there are options to protect your documents. The safest option is to store them in a fireproof vault. These are similar to what the banks use, but they’re costly to install.
It’s also relatively easy to accidentally lock a staff member in one of these rooms, so they’re not ideal, and if you have only a handful of documents, they’re overkill.
A fireproof file cabinet is a more cost-effective solution. A truly fireproof option is going to cost a bit more upfront but offers good protection during a blaze. Be careful when choosing your cabinet, though, as some are more fire resistant rather than fireproof.
A fire-resistant model offers protection against fire for a set period. This is often for about an hour. It gives you a chance to put the fire out but won’t offer as much protection as one that is considered fireproof.
Of course, fire suppression measures should always be in place and proper working order. Even if the documents inside don’t burn, they could still be discolored due to the heat. Eventually, if the fire rages on for long enough, they’ll become too damaged to be of use.
The downside to these kinds of cabinets, though, is that they are pricier than standard models. As part of our commitment to excellent customer service, we always bring you the best prices.
When we have stock of good quality, used fireproof cabinets, we’ll list them here at a reduced rate.
